About Me
It has been the honor of my life to have worked extensively with individuals, families and couples going through difficult issues and overwhelming periods of life. My practice is centered around the value of walking with others in their current path in understanding, through healing, growth and insight in meaningful ways. Maintaining or finding your authentic self and seeing hope throughout the process of change can be life altering. With a heartfelt dedication for working with people of all ages, I am a Christian counselor that believes in support, sensitivity and a holistic approach. My experience is diverse having been, over the course of twenty five years, a school counselor, director of social services, a cafe owner, a high school teacher and college professor. It is my hope we build a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to process and reach areas that need to be touched and maybe moved in your life. In my life, I have been through a big loss and God has used it to bless my life in ways I now understand. None of us need to stay where we are and small steps toward a new tomorrow doesn’t have to be done alone. Awareness and understanding changes trajectories. Developing new skills and strategies help! Verbal processing can support change. I take an integrative approach and utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy and Strength-based approaches. I am from a coaching family and Motivational Therapy slides in often! Finding research based and creative ways that fit your body’s need to slow down your nervous system can be examined. I am very thoughtful of Emotion-Focused Therapy, and the longer I practice, I find the richness of individuals and/or couples creating their own unique blueprint to break old cycles and navigate new ways to communicate and connect deeply. I am blessed to be married to Paul, with six wonderful adult children (in 5 states!) and ten grandchildren, so far! We have a passion for missions and adoption. We also love to volunteer, hike and find adventures! I look forward to joining you on your journey toward growth and healing.
